Context
Building a streaming app for Mercedes vehicles is no ordinary task. You are designing for a premium brand, a glanceable low-distraction environment, and strict performance constraints, so every interaction has to stay safe, elegant, and fast.
What I Built
I was a frontend engineer on the project. My focus was on a clean, minimal UI that would not distract drivers. I worked to keep the app light, with a small bundle and as few libraries as possible, because the product had strict performance limits and had to handle variable internet connectivity.
One of the most rewarding parts was teaching the team about i18n. They had not worked with localization before, so I brought in knowledge I had learned on my own and helped the app ship in multiple languages.
What I Am Proud Of
We launched the app in Mercedes vehicles globally, and I was proud of helping the team ship localization for the first time. The project taught me a lot about building for constrained environments, where keeping the UI simple and the frontend lean matters just as much as the feature set.
