The problem
Restaurants often have menus as photos or documents. Menuit turns those uploads into editable, translated online menus with printable QR codes, so an owner can publish changes without replacing printed codes.
What I owned
I founded and built Menuit, owning product and frontend architecture across onboarding, menu editing, public menus, translations, analytics, and plan limits. I also built the PostgreSQL models and Next.js/Node.js APIs, authentication, Stripe Checkout and subscription webhooks, Redis caching and rate limiting, file uploads, and AI workflows for extraction, translation, and images.
Decisions and tradeoffs
I kept the central workflow focused on getting from an account to a live menu. The owner can review and edit extracted menu items before publishing, rather than re-entering the full menu by hand.
How I checked it
I measured the account-to-live-menu workflow at 30 seconds. Lighthouse recorded menu loads under one second on simulated slow 3G.
Outcomes and limits
Development began in August 2025, and Menuit launched in November, about three months later. The product grew to approximately 15 active users. Both results come from specific test runs.
